Blue Quill Soccer

The Blue Quill outdoor soccer program is a member of South West Edmonton Minor Soccer Association (SWEMSA), and therefore follows their policies and rules. Although based in the Blue Quill community, we coordinate and schedule games with various communities in the South West zone.

  • Under 4 (Mighty mites), under 6 Under 8 and Under 10 teams will play within the communities of Blue Quill, Yellowbird, Ermineskin, and Twin Brooks. This is collectively known as KICKS (Kaskitayo Intra-Community Kids Soccer).
  • Under 12 and Under 14 teams will play against other teams in SWEMSA.
  • Under 16 and Under 18 teams play city wide, meaning that their opponents can be from anywhere in the Edmonton area.

The season will start the last week of April and run until the end of June. For teams qualifying for post-season play, cities and inter-cities will occur in July.

Under 10 and older players wishing to play at a more competitive level should investigate the STING program. Information about the STING premier program is available on their web site @ www.swstingsoccer.com. Tryouts will start mid to late February so register now.

Registration

Registration for outdoor soccer takes place in 2 steps.

  • The on-line registration site can be reached by following the link on the front page of the SWEMSA web site (www.swemsa.com) in the WHAT'S NEW section.
  • Print out 2 copies of your registration and bring these to the in-person registration
  • Attend one of the in-person sessions to pay fees, sign up for volunteer duty and purchase a community league membership. These sessions will take place upstairs at the Blue Quill Hall (11304 25 Ave) on:
    • Saturday 25 February 2012 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
    • Wednesday 29 February 2012 6:00 – 9:00 pm

Community league memberships: All registered players require a community league membership for insurance purposes; participants will not be allowed to play without a current membership. Please  contact Sandra at membership@bqcl.org for more information.

SWEMSA rules require that all players register in the community in which they reside. Priority for placement of registered players will be as follows:

  • Resident player
  • Player residing within district (Communities of Blue Quill, Twin Brooks, Ermineskin, Yellowbird, Heritage Pointe and Blackmud Creek).
  • Player residing within Zone (Southwest Edmonton)
  • Community soccer programs must place every resident player on their community teams before out of community players can be placed.

LATE registrants will be placed on a team where space permits.

Players trying out for STING are encouraged to register with their communities to reserve their position.
